A prototype using iphone as motion controller

This is my first prototype using Oculus Rift DK1 back to last July. The main idea of this prototype is using sample device(in this case is smartphone) to unlock players hands from the keyboard mouse or joypad.

Last July, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to try the Oculus Rift DK1. After experience few VR demos, I found it's very uncomfortable if the player's hands have been locked in the table by the keyboard and mouse, but then still need to turn head to search target or look around. And also it's not every videogame players willing to buy another device like Hydra, MYO, leap motion etc. Because I had mobile development background, I thought maybe we can using our smartphone as motion controller. Then I made this prototype. It was using the gyroscopes inside smartphone to trace the angle change during moving to calculate the position.
